ভারত আর শ্রীলঙ্কার মধ্যে এক প্রাকৃতিক সংযোগ সেতু। লাইমস্টোনের তৈরি এই সেতুর দৈর্ঘ্য ১৮ মাইল । সেতু থেকে সমুদ্রের গভীরতা ৩ ফুট থেকে ৩০ ফুট।
ইসলাম মতে আদম বেহেস্ত থেকে নির্বাসিত হয়ে ভুল বুঝতে পেরে আল্লাহর আরাধনার জন্য শ্রিলংকার এক পাহারের শির্ষে এক পায়ে একহাজার বছর আরাধনা করে আল্লাহর কাছে ক্ষমা লাভ করেন,এর ফলে ওখানে বড় এক পায়ের ছাপ তৈরি হয়(১৫৬ সেমি/৭৬সেমি)। তার নাম অনুসারে ঐ জায়গার নাম আদম পীক। খৃষ্টানরাও একে আদম পীক বলে।
হিন্দু মতে শিব এইখানে এক পায়ে প্রলয় নৃত্য করে এই পায়ের ছাপ বসিয়ে দিয়েছেন। বৌদ্ধরা মনে করে বুদ্ধ শ্রিলঙ্কায় তৃতীয়বার আগমন কালে এখানে উপাওনা করার সময় পায়ের স্মৃতিচিহ্ন দিয়ে যায়। ইসলাম/খৃষ্টান অনুসারীরা মনে করে এই আদম পীকে পৌছার জন্য আদম এই ব্রীজ ব্যাবহার করেছিল।
অন্যদিকে রামায়ন অনুযায়ী রাবনের রাজ্য শ্রীলঙ্কায় সীতা উদ্ধারের জন্য সমুদ্র পারি দিতে গিয়ে বিশাল সমস্যায় পরে।
পূর্বে দুইটি/তিনটি থিউরী ছিল ব্রীজ তৈরির ব্যাপারে। যেমন- ভুমিকম্পের ফলে সমুদ্রতল উচু হয়ে গিয়ে ঐ স্থানের পানির গভীরতা কমে গেছে,তাই প্রাকৃতিক লাইমস্টোনের দীর্ঘ চেইন সজ্জা সমুদ্র গভীর থেকে বেরিয়ে এসেছে। আরেকটা হলো গোয়ানাল্যান্ড ভাঙ্গার সময় এই স্থানে সরু সংযোগ সুত্র থেকে গেছে।

বর্তমানে এই ব্রীজের মধ্যে দিয়ে একটা খাল কাটার চিন্তাভাবনা চলছে,তাহলে আরব সাগর আর বঙ্গোপসাগরের মধ্যে অনেক দূরত্ব কমে যাবে। ছবিটি দেখলেই বুঝা যাবে। কিন্তু আমাদের দেশের ধর্মান্ধদের মত ভারতীয় ধর্মান্ধরা এই খাল খননে বাধা দিলে সুপ্রিমকোর্ট রায় দেয় যে,” এই সেতু রামের দ্বারা তৈরি না”।
