Nikli Upazila :

Nikli Upazila (kishoreganj district) with an area of 214.40 sq km, is bounded by karimganj and mithamain upazilas on the north, bajitpur upazila on the south, Mithamain and austagram upazilas on the east, katiadi and Karimganj upazilas on the west. Main rivers are Dhanu, Ghorautra, Boda, Narasunda,; depression 16; Bara Beel, Tegulia Beel, Nayanbali Beel and Raoar Beel are notable.

Nikli (Town) consists of two mouzas. The town has an area of 7.62 sq km. The town has a population of 15090; male 48.22%, female 51.78%. Literacy rate among the town people is 20.03%. The town has one dakbungalow.

Administration Nikli thana, now an upazila, was established in 1726. The upazila consists of 6 union parishads, 43 mouzas and 122 villages.

Archaeological heritage and relics Suroi Jame Mosque (Mughal period), Kursha Shahi Mosque (1679).

Marks of War of Liberation Mass killing site: at a home-stead behind the Shashan Khola adjacent to Nikli Bazar.

Population 110912; male 50.16%, female 49.84%; Muslim 93.79%, Hindu 6.17%, Buddhist 0.02%, Christian 0.02%.

Religious institutions Mosque 89, temple 17, akhra 2 (Chhetra Akhra and Govindapur Akhra).

Literacy and educational institutions Average literacy 12.6%; male 17.6% and female 7.4%. Educational institutions: college 1, high school 9, madrasa 4, government primary school 38, community school 19; noted institutions: Nikli Gorachand Pilot High School (1938).

Hats, bazars and fairs Hats and bazars are 15, noted Nikli Bazar, Daspara Bazar, Majlishpur Bazar; fairs 10, noted Gauri Mela and Saitdhar Pous Sangkranti Mela.

Main exports Paddy, peanut, chilli, mustard seed and kherai.
